Writer's block is not a road barrier or something you chop your text on. It's a state of mind that can paralyse even the most accomplished people. Susanna and Sherryl put writer's block under the microscope to help us recognise it and nullify it.
We poked at some of its manifestations, peered at some of its causes and the writiers offered perspectives that helped banish it from our heads permanently. They presented a variety of tried-and-true methods to get us out of the hole and writing again.
Susanna has worked with writers for more than 20 years, producing the stories of people and organisations. Her perspectives on the publishing industry developed in a diverse range of roles ranging from policy editor to magazine editor, book publisher, teacher and consultant. She loves talking with people about their writing aspirations, ideas and projects, and helping to bring them to life. Susanna is the Course Co-ordinator of the Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing at Victoria University in Melbourne, teaching Advanced Editing and Advanced Non-Fiction Writing. She also teaches writing and editing in Hong Kong.
Sherryl has been writing poems and stories for over 20 years, and her first childrenˇ¦s book, The Too-Tight Tutu, grew from a writing exercise in a class.
